St. Joseph's Care Group's program areas are: Complex Care & Physical Rehabilitation Services, Mental Health & Addiction Services, and Long-Term Care Services. SJCG has approximately 1,700 employees, 400 volunteers and an annual operating budget of over $125M.
St. Joseph's Hospice Palliative Care Renovations
The vision for this project was initiated by Karin Sitko and Clint Harris who have had personal experience with the exceptional care provided in Hospice, and felt it was time for the environment to be improved to match the level of care provided at Hospice Palliative Care.
In Canada, hospice care and palliative care are used interchangeably. Hospice palliative care emphasizes living fully to the very end of life with dignity and comfort. This individualized care extends to family and friends. It provides a circle of support and expertise as it works towards making a very difficult life transition both manageable and meaningful. Hospice palliative care respects the individual's right to maintain a sense of hopefullness. The focus of hope changes many times. It is a common hope, when there is no cure, that death will be peaceful and free from pain.
